Gevorg Papoyan, the Economy Minister of Armenia, signed a memorandum of understanding to begin exporting up to 40 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables per week to the United Arab Emirates starting next month.

The agreement was reached with Omar Mohammed Hamdan AlShamsi, the CEO and co-founder of Watermelon Ecosystem, a UAE-based digital platform that manages procurement and supply chains for food suppliers, farmers, and restaurants. During their meeting, the two parties discussed investment programs and strategies to expand Armenian agricultural products into the UAE and other international markets.

Minister Papoyan stated that recent investments in the agricultural sector have created production capacities that meet international standards. He noted that this new export pipeline will specifically benefit small and medium-sized producers within Armenia.
