Bradford Council Approves Keighley Residential Housing Development

Bradford Council approved an outline planning application to build residential housing on a former allotment site in Keighley despite objections over traffic and infrastructure.

The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council approved an outline planning application to develop a former allotment site off Parkwood Rise in Keighley for residential housing. The application, submitted by Mr. Mohammed approximately three and a half years ago, does not specify a final home count, though one proposed layout suggests a development of 43 homes.

The decision followed a split in local opinion. Keighley Town Council and 45 residents opposed the project, citing potential traffic increases and the absence of plans to improve the Coney Lane bridge. In contrast, 116 residents supported the proposal, describing the greenfield site as an untidy eyesore.

Planning officers rejected the traffic objections, stating that the local network could safely accommodate the development. They further clarified that funding for the Coney Lane bridge had already been secured through a separate 103-home project on Moss Car Road that received approval in 2023.
