Trump Aide Natalie Harp Faces Backlash Over Family Profile
White House aide Natalie Harp became the center of a political firestorm after a Washington Post profile detailed her family's ideological split and father's suicide.
A Washington Post profile of Natalie Harp, a top aide to President Donald Trump, has sparked a conflict between Trump allies and the media over privacy and political motivation. The report details a deep ideological fracture within the Harp family following the July 2020 suicide of their father, Bob Harp, a business professor at Biola University.
Natalie Harp's estranged brother, Preston Harp, told the publication that the family split over whether to keep the cause of their father's death private. While Natalie became a prominent figure in the MAGA movement, Preston claims he became radicalized toward the far left and relocated to Nicaragua in 2023 to support President Daniel Ortega's Sandinista movement. Preston further alleged that their father viewed Donald Trump's claims of Christianity as a "joke."
Trump supporters and MAGA allies condemned the report as an invasion of privacy. Podcaster Katie Miller described the publication as a failure of "basic human decency," while Fox News contributor Byron York suggested the Post sought to malign Harp because of her proximity to the president. The White House and Natalie Harp have not responded to requests for comment regarding the family estrangement or the profile's claims that Harp's loyalty to Trump was influenced by her family turmoil.
