American Airlines to Install Starlink Wi-Fi on 1,000 Planes

American Airlines announced Thursday that it is expanding its onboard connectivity modernization by bringing Starlink Wi-Fi to all mainline aircraft. The rollout begins next year and will cover more than 1,000 planes, including Boeing widebody and narrowbody aircraft as well as Airbus narrowbody planes.

This initiative expands a previous plan that focused on equipping more than 500 Airbus aircraft with the service. The new system is expected to provide speeds of up to 1 Gbps per terminal, which will establish one of the largest Starlink-connected fleets in the world.
