Oshiomhole and Wike Attack Rotimi Amaechi's Political Record
Senator Adams Oshiomhole and Minister Nyesom Wike accused Rotimi Amaechi of political hypocrisy and demanded accountability for his past public expenditures.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole and Minister Nyesom Wike launched coordinated attacks on Rotimi Amaechi, the vice-presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress, questioning his consistency and integrity ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
During a TVC interview on Wednesday, Oshiomhole accused Amaechi of political hypocrisy for criticizing President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, organizations Amaechi previously served and praised. Oshiomhole dismissed Amaechi as unreliable, citing a past legal dispute where Amaechi accused Atiku Abubakar of winning a fraudulent primary. He further argued that Amaechi lacks a direct electoral mandate, noting he became governor via a Supreme Court decision and was appointed minister without a vote.
Simultaneously, Minister Nyesom Wike challenged both Amaechi and Atiku Abubakar to account for their records in office during a Rainbow Coalition meeting in Oyigbo. Wike questioned the impact of Atiku's tenure as vice-president and demanded that Amaechi explain specific public expenditures from his time as governor, including funds for a monorail project, a specialist hospital, and a mosquito-control program. Wike also asserted that Amaechi's entry into the African Democratic Congress has complicated the party's presidential ticket, casting doubt on its ability to provide a credible alternative to the current administration.
