Richard Mofe-Damijo Urges Nigerians to Solve National Problems

Richard Mofe-Damijo called on Nigerians to propose solutions to national challenges rather than offering criticism during the 2026 Pivot Nigeria Conference in Lagos.

Actor and filmmaker Richard Mofe-Damijo urged Nigerians to stop merely criticizing national challenges and instead take responsibility for proposing and implementing solutions. Speaking at the 2026 Pivot Nigeria Conference in Lagos, Mofe-Damijo emphasized that citizens act as ambassadors for their country and that individual conduct directly shapes the international reputation of Nigeria.

Mofe-Damijo also called for greater accountability from political leaders, stating that elected officials must be held responsible to the people they represent. He argued that while problems exist, the focus should shift toward active problem-solving.

Conference convener Victoria Uwadoka described national reputation as a critical asset that influences trust and economic opportunities. She argued that the responsibility for shaping this image extends beyond the government to include the media, businesses, and individual citizens. The event, themed “The Reputation Dividend: Who Pays for Nigeria’s Perception?”, cited the global success of Nollywood, Afrobeats, and entrepreneurs like Aliko Dangote as evidence of the country's capacity for positive international recognition.
