Azerbaijan Hosts NATO and UAE Military Delegations in Baku

Azerbaijan conducted military interoperability training with NATO partners and held bilateral air force talks with the United Arab Emirates to strengthen regional defense cooperation.

The Government of Azerbaijan hosted a series of high-level military engagements in Baku to strengthen international defense ties. Last week, military personnel from NATO and partner countries conducted activities focused on enhancing operational capabilities and interoperability. This program included operational planning and the evaluation of Azerbaijani military capabilities against NATO standards.

These activities concluded with meetings between senior Azerbaijani leadership, including Colonel General Karim Valiyev and Lieutenant General Azer Aliyev, and NATO officials such as Lieutenant General John Mead and Air Commodore Jeff Brock. Swedish Ambassador Louise Morsing and Azerbaijani Ambassador to NATO Jafar Huseinzada also attended to emphasize the role of international partnerships in regional stability.

Following the NATO engagements, Lieutenant General Namig Islamzade, Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Defense and Air Force Commander, met with a United Arab Emirates delegation on October 19. Led by Major General Rashid Mohammed Al-Shamsi, the UAE delegation discussed the execution of joint exercises and future bilateral cooperation. The visit included an inspection of aviation equipment and a tour of an exercise headquarters featuring modern command-and-control systems.
