TransUnion Expands UK Credit Scoring Range to 999

TransUnion is updating its UK credit scoring system to a 0-999 range to incorporate more detailed consumer data starting in late September 2026.

TransUnion, one of the three primary credit reference agencies in the United Kingdom, is expanding its credit scoring range to 0-999, replacing the previous maximum score of 710. The rollout begins in late September 2026 and will continue through June 2027.

The new model incorporates a broader set of data, including credit card usage patterns and account balance trends, to provide a more detailed assessment of consumer credit health. TransUnion estimates that 36% of consumers will move to a higher score band, while 6% will move down and 58% will remain unchanged.

The company stated that the underlying credit report data remains the same, meaning the scoring change will not impact actual credit decisions or approvals by lenders. This update follows similar adjustments by other major agencies, including Equifax, which updated its range to 0-1,000 in 2021, and Experian, which increased its range to 1,250 last year.
