Civic Groups and DOJ Deploy Poll Watchers Across Utah

The ACLU of Utah and the U.S. Department of Justice are deploying poll monitors to ensure fair access during the November midterm elections.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Utah and other civic organizations are deploying poll watchers across the state for the November midterm elections to ensure free and fair access to the ballot box. The ACLU of Utah organized more than 160 shifts to monitor polling centers and ballot drop boxes, specifically looking for disruptions or threatening conduct by federal agents.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced it is also sending poll monitors to the state. Simultaneously, the Disability Law Center of Utah is deploying monitors to assist voters with intellectual and physical challenges.

Utah Lieutenant Governor Deidre Henderson advised voters that it is now too late to return ballots via U.S. mail to guarantee timely receipt. She noted that ballot drop boxes remain available for use until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
