Astell&Kern Launches PD5 Digital Audio Player with Quad/Octa-DAC

Astell&Kern announced the PD5 digital audio player featuring a switchable DAC architecture and EnviroTune technology for ambient noise optimization.

Astell&Kern announced the launch of the PD5, a new digital audio player featuring a switchable Quad/Octa-DAC architecture. The device utilizes eight Cirrus Logic CS43198 DACs and incorporates EnviroTune technology to optimize sound based on ambient noise levels.

The player is constructed with an aluminum body and runs on an optimized Android OS powered by an octa-core processor. It supports native DSD256 and 32-bit/384kHz PCM, providing up to 28 hours of continuous playback when operating in Quad-DAC mode.

The PD5 is debuting at the Hong Kong AV show. Following this appearance, the device will be displayed at the Shenzhen International Audio Show from August 14 to 16, 2026, and CanJam SoCal 2026 from August 29 to 30. Pricing and availability details have not yet been released.
