Trump Media Terminates Crypto.com Deals to Pursue Energy Merger

Trump Media and Technology Group is canceling its treasury and prediction market agreements with Crypto.com to focus on a merger with energy company TAE.

Trump Media and Technology Group is terminating two major agreements with the Crypto.com exchange, including the dissolution of a deal to create a $6.4 billion CRO treasury. The company is also canceling plans to integrate Truth Predict, a prediction market feature, into the Truth Social platform.

Interim CEO Kevin McGurn stated that competitive dynamics, rather than regulatory concerns, drove the decision to roll back these initiatives. TMTG, Crypto.com, and Yorkville Acquisition Corp attributed the end of the treasury deal to prevailing market conditions and shifting business priorities. The company now intends to shift its strategic focus toward a merger with the energy company TAE.

These business pivots occur as President Donald Trump faces legislative scrutiny over potential conflicts of interest. Lawmakers are examining the relationship between the administration's cryptocurrency industry regulations and the digital asset investments held by the president's family.
