Nvidia Maintains Market Lead Over Alphabet Amid AI Boom

Nvidia remains the world's largest company with a $5.4 trillion valuation, maintaining a significant lead over Alphabet despite the latter's aggressive AI investments.

Nvidia remains the world's largest company with a market capitalization of approximately $5.4 trillion, holding a $1.4 trillion lead over Alphabet Inc. While Alphabet has expanded its AI capabilities through the Gemini model and AI search overviews, analysts suggest it is unlikely to overtake Nvidia by 2027.

Alphabet reported 82% growth in its Google Cloud division during the second quarter and plans to invest $200 billion in data center capital expenditures in 2026. Despite these efforts, Alphabet is projected to grow by 24% in 2026 and 23% in 2027, a pace considered insufficient to close the valuation gap.

Nvidia CFO Colette Kress announced that management expects a 70% growth rate next year. This growth is driven by massive AI infrastructure spending from major firms, including Alphabet, which continues to purchase the computing equipment necessary to power its own AI ambitions.
