India Reports 16 Deaths from Middle East Conflict

Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh informed the Rajya Sabha that 16 Indian nationals, including 10 seafarers, have been killed and 75 others injured in the West Asia conflict since February 2026. The casualties occurred across Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Israel.

In a separate industrial incident, 12 Indian nationals died in June following an explosion and fire at the Ras Laffan Gas Facility in Qatar. The Indian government is currently coordinating with host nations to facilitate medical treatment for the injured and the repatriation of bodies.

Financial assistance has been provided through multiple channels. The Directorate General of Maritime Administration is providing 10 lakh rupees to seafarers via its Welfare Scheme, while the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund is providing 200,000 rupees to victims of the Qatar gas facility accident. Additionally, the government has worked with the civil aviation ministry to secure commercial flights and transit visas for stranded citizens.
