Google Integrates Third-Party Apps into Search AI Mode
Google is rolling out third-party app connectivity for Search AI Mode in the United States, allowing users to execute tasks via Instacart, Canva, and YouTube Music.
Google is integrating third-party application connectivity into AI Mode in Search, transitioning the tool from a knowledge-gathering interface into a digital assistant capable of executing tasks. The update, which is rolling out in the United States, is powered by Gemini 3 and allows users to link their accounts to external services directly within the search interface.
Initial integrations include Instacart, Canva, and YouTube Music. Through the "Ask Anything" bar, users can add grocery items to an Instacart cart, generate design templates and flyers in Canva, and create or save playlists in YouTube Music. While AI Mode facilitates these actions, users must still complete final steps, such as checkout or downloading designs, within the respective third-party applications or websites.
This rollout follows the introduction of "Personal Intelligence," which enables AI Mode to use context from other Google apps to refine responses. Google stated it is currently in discussions with additional partners to expand the number of supported apps as part of a broader effort to transform Search into a universal AI assistant.
