Babulal Marandi Accuses Hemant Soren of Blocking CBI Exam Probe

Jharkhand Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi accused Chief Minister Hemant Soren of obstructing a CBI investigation into state examination irregularities to shield himself from prosecution.

Jharkhand Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi accused Chief Minister Hemant Soren of deliberately obstructing a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into irregularities within the Jharkhand Public Service Commission and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission examinations. Marandi alleged that the state government utilizes its own agencies, including the CID and ACB, to arrest high-profile suspects specifically to shield them from central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate.

Marandi claimed a nexus exists between top administration officials and the sale of jobs, asserting that Soren fears a fair investigation would lead to his own imprisonment. These allegations follow the Enforcement Directorate's decision to register an ECIR and begin a probe into the rigging of the exams.

The political dispute coincides with widespread student unrest in Ranchi. Aspirants from all 24 districts of Jharkhand, including members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, have held protest marches from the Old Vidhan Sabha to the New Vidhan Sabha. The protesters are demanding the cancellation of the JSSC CGL examination and a high-level CBI inquiry into recurring paper leaks.
