Three Chambers Form Wessex Chamber Alliance for Devolution

The Somerset Chamber of Commerce, Business West, and Dorset Chamber of Commerce have established the Wessex Chamber Alliance to unify the business voice in South West England. The partnership aims to integrate employers into high-level discussions regarding investment, infrastructure, skills, and economic growth as the Wessex region develops its devolution and governance frameworks.

In a joint open letter, the alliance demanded a formal role in the development of any future devolution settlement. The organizations stated this is necessary to prevent businesses from being consulted only after key decisions have already been finalized.

Beyond governance, the alliance intends to provide real-time business intelligence to local authorities and the government. This data-driven approach is designed to address specific regional hurdles, including skills shortages and planning delays.
