ArcelorMittal Names Microsoft Azure Primary Cloud Platform

ArcelorMittal selected Microsoft Azure as its primary cloud provider to transform its global steel operations into a data-driven, AI-enabled organization.

ArcelorMittal named Microsoft Azure as its primary cloud computing platform to execute a "Cloud First, Data Centric" strategy. The partnership aims to transition the global steelmaker into an AI-enabled organization by consolidating data into a single foundation and deploying advanced analytics at scale. To reduce reliance on legacy IT systems and improve cybersecurity, the company will integrate Microsoft Fabric, Purview, and Foundry.

Nik Puri, Chief Information Officer of ArcelorMittal, stated that the expanded relationship is intended to fundamentally reshape the company's IT operating model by embedding AI into the core of its IT estate. Samer Abu-Ltaif of Microsoft described the initiative as part of a trend where ambitious companies build their businesses around AI from the ground up.

While Microsoft Azure serves as the primary platform, ArcelorMittal continues a separate collaboration with Amazon Web Services focused specifically on industrial automation and lower-carbon construction. The companies have not disclosed the financial value of the deal or a specific timeline for full implementation.
