American Airlines Matches Federal Trump Account Seed Contributions

American Airlines will provide a $1,000 matching contribution to Trump Accounts for the children of its employees, joining over 50 other companies in the program.

American Airlines announced it will match the federal government's $1,000 seed contribution for Trump Accounts for the children of its employees. The airline will provide a one-time $1,000 deposit to eligible children, joining more than 50 other companies, including Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, that have committed to the program.

Starting in 2027, the company will allow approximately one-third of its nearly 140,000 global employees to contribute up to $2,500 of pretax earnings annually to these accounts, pending the establishment of final regulations. Trump Accounts are tax-deferred savings vehicles for U.S. children born between 2025 and 2028, who receive an initial $1,000 deposit from the U.S. Treasury.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated it is encouraging to see leading companies supporting the effort. American Airlines CEO Robert Isom said the company's purpose is to help team members build a strong financial future for themselves and their families.
