Delhi Police Detain 150 Protesters Including CJP Founder
Delhi Police detained approximately 150 people during Lehra Do Tiranga protests, leading to allegations of undisclosed detentions and denied legal access for political leaders.
The Delhi Police detained approximately 150 people on Friday during Lehra Do Tiranga protests to maintain law and order and ensure traffic movement. Law enforcement deployed Rapid Action Force personnel to cordon off areas including Central Park in Connaught Place.
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and the All India Students' Association (AISA) questioned the whereabouts of their leaders following the crackdown. CJP alleged that its founder, Abhijeet Dipke, was taken to an undisclosed location in Jhandewalan and denied access to legal counsel. AISA reported that its president, Neha Bora, was detained at Mandi House and moved between multiple sites, including an Anti-Narcotics Task Force facility, before lawyers located her at the RK Puram police station around midnight. AISA further alleged that police refused to provide Bora with necessary medication.
Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas demanded that police explain the grounds for Bora's detention, stating that detention cannot become disappearance. CJP questioned why the government treats youth like terrorists and asserted that they are equal citizens of India who deserve constitutional protections.
