Intuit Adds AI Tax Deduction Tools to QuickBooks Online

Intuit integrated artificial intelligence into QuickBooks Online to help small businesses identify and track tax deductions through a new Deduction Maximizer tool.

Intuit integrated artificial intelligence into QuickBooks Online to assist small businesses in identifying and tracking tax deductions. The software employs automatic expense categorization, mobile receipt capture, and automated mileage tracking to organize financial data throughout the year.

A specific tool called Deduction Maximizer, currently in beta as part of QuickBooks Business Tax AI, uses AI to suggest potential missed deductions. The tool analyzes a user's industry, entity type, and employee count to identify financial gaps that may not be visible in connected bank accounts. Intuit reports that the tool has helped 58% of businesses uncover key deductions.

Access to the Deduction Maximizer is restricted to eligible users on the Simple Start plan or higher who operate as sole proprietorships, S corporations, or partnerships. Basic tracking features remain available across various software tiers.
