Drivers Sue Mercedes-Benz Over Burning AMG Seat Logos

Mercedes-Benz is the defendant in a class action lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court of California’s Western division. The lawsuit, brought by drivers Gabriel Lahijani and Karendeep “Karina” Bath, alleges that the raised metallic AMG logo on the front seats of certain Mercedes AMG vehicles contains a design defect.

According to the filing, the metallic logo can reach temperatures high enough to cause burns to the upper backs, necks, or shoulders of vehicle occupants. Gabriel Lahijani reported suffering second-degree burns on May 31 after entering a 2026 Mercedes-AMG E-Class while wearing a tank top. Karendeep Bath reported similar thermal contact burns to her shoulder while wearing a sleeveless top.

The plaintiffs are seeking compensation for pain, suffering, emotional distress, and medical expenses. The lawsuit also requests payment for the removal of the logos from other affected vehicles to prevent further injuries.
