Brookfield Renewable Targets AI Demand with Nuclear Energy
Brookfield Renewable is leveraging its stake in Westinghouse and agreements with Microsoft and Google to meet the rising clean energy needs of the AI sector.
Brookfield Renewable is positioning its global portfolio of hydroelectric, solar, wind, and storage assets to meet the surge in energy demand driven by artificial intelligence. The company is specifically utilizing its 50% stake in Westinghouse to provide nuclear power services and develop small modular reactor technology.
To capitalize on the AI boom, the company established power supply agreements with Microsoft and Google. These deals integrate the firm's clean energy capabilities with the infrastructure needs of major technology companies.
While other startups such as Oklo and NuScale Power are also pursuing small modular reactor technology, Brookfield Renewable operates from a profitable foundation, contrasting with the higher-risk profiles of those emerging firms.
