African Democratic Congress Rejects INEC Vote Protection for 2027

The African Democratic Congress announced it no longer trusts the Independent National Electoral Commission to protect its votes in the 2027 general elections. National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi stated the party is making independent arrangements to monitor and collate its own results to ensure accuracy.

This decision stems from the 2023 elections, during which candidates relied on promises of automatic result transmission to the Result Viewing Portal. The commission later attributed the failure of that system to technical glitches.

Abdullahi asserted that the party will vigilantly guard its votes and will only accept final results that accurately reflect the votes cast at polling units. He stated that the party can no longer trust the commission to protect their votes, though he noted they would accept results if they reflect the true vote count.
