Alphabet AI Growth Contrasts With Intel's Financial Struggle
Alphabet Inc. reports strong AI-driven revenue growth while Intel Corporation struggles with multi-billion dollar losses despite government and Nvidia support.
Financial performance for Alphabet Inc. and Intel Corporation has diverged sharply amid rising Treasury yields. Alphabet reports significant success in AI monetization, with Google Cloud revenue increasing 63% to $20.03 billion in the first quarter. The company maintains a substantial backlog exceeding $460 billion and a strong balance sheet, supported by $73.27 billion in free cash flow for the 2025 fiscal year and a recent 5% dividend increase.
In contrast, Intel Corporation continues to face financial instability. Despite a year-to-date rally supported by a $5 billion equity injection from NVIDIA and a stake taken by the United States government, Intel reported a GAAP net loss of $3.73 billion in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026. The company also recorded negative free cash flow of $3.87 billion as it manages high capital expenditures for its foundry buildout.
