Senator Solomon Adeola Threatens Lawsuits Over Ogun State Origin Dispute

Senator Solomon Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Ogun State, has threatened lawsuits against several individuals who claimed he is an indigene of Ekiti State. Adeola issued a 24-hour ultimatum to suspended APC member Abayomi Hunye and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Folake Marcus-Bello to provide evidence for their claims, which were made during interviews on Channels Television. Adeola characterized the allegations as politically motivated propaganda intended to disrupt his 2027 gubernatorial bid.

Abayomi Hunye rejected the legal threat, describing it as a "political jamboree" and a diversionary tactic. Hunye asserted that he possesses verifiable documentary evidence of Adeola's Ekiti ancestry and welcomed a court appearance to resolve the constitutional matter. Traditional leaders, including the Oluwo of Kemta and Baaye of Egbaland, held a press conference to affirm Adeola's ancestral ties to the Kemta community.

The dispute expanded on September 17 when PDP governorship candidate Oladipupo Adebutu challenged Adeola to sue him as well, calling the senator a "fake indigene" of Ogun State. During a rally in Odogbolu, Adebutu claimed he also possesses documents proving Adeola's ancestry. Simultaneously, tensions escalated in Ososa, where a shooting incident involving Adebutu's convoy occurred; the APC has called on Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu to investigate whether Adebutu's own security personnel caused the gunfire.
