Corte Argentino Recalls 30,000 Pounds of Uninspected Beef

Florida-based importer Corte Argentino USA LLC is recalling approximately 29,628 pounds of raw beef imported from Argentina. The recall follows a discovery by the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) that the shipment bypassed a federally required import reinspection. The affected products, produced by FrigorIfico Gorina SAIC between May 15 and May 20, 2026, include boneless cuts such as Top Sirloin Butt, Eye Round, Topside Cap Off, Flat, and Knuckle.

The beef was distributed to retailers and distributors in Florida and Texas, with use-by or freeze-by dates ranging from September 15 to September 20, 2026. While no illnesses or injuries have been reported, the FSIS is urging consumers to discard the products or return them for a refund because the agency cannot verify the shipment's documentation, labeling, or general condition.

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller condemned the lapse as unacceptable, stating that the failure creates an uneven playing field for Texas cattle producers. While Miller credited the USDA and FSIS for catching the error, he demanded a federal investigation into how the beef entered American commerce without inspection to ensure the mistake is not repeated.
