Framework Raises PC Prices Due to Rising Memory Costs

Framework increased prices for its desktop PCs and mainboards following rapid cost increases for LPDDR5x memory from suppliers. The base 32GB RAM configuration now starts at $1,139, an increase from $1,099, while the high-end 128GB model rose from $1,999 to $2,459.

CEO Nirav Patel stated the hikes were necessary to cover supplier costs, noting that the memory outlook for 2026 continues to worsen. The company indicated that conversations with partners at CES suggest a challenging period for consumers that could persist for several years.

This pricing shift is driven by RAM suppliers prioritizing lucrative contracts for AI datacenters. Industry reports suggest other manufacturers, including Dell and Asus, are also preparing similar price increases in response to the volatile memory market.
