Azerbaijan Receives First Estonian Ambassador to Expand Ties

Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, received Tiina Nirk in Baku on September 23. Nirk presented her credentials as the first Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed expanding bilateral cooperation across several sectors, including political dialogue, business, information technology, logistics, and education. Nirk highlighted the strategic importance of Azerbaijan's position along the Middle Corridor and commended the country for providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.

President Aliyev emphasized the need for reciprocal visits and noted that relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union are strengthening, referencing recent visits by EU leaders Ursula von der Leyen, António Costa, and Kaja Kallas. Both parties agreed that the establishment of the Estonian Embassy in Azerbaijan will support the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Trade Cooperation and further develop bilateral relations.
