Gold and Silver Prices Recover Ahead of Federal Reserve Meeting
Precious metal prices rebounded on October 26 as investors sought lower entry points before key US inflation data and a Federal Reserve policy meeting.
Gold and silver prices recovered on October 26 after a sharp sell-off during the previous week. Buyers entered the market at lower levels, pushing Comex gold futures to approximately $4,025 per ounce and silver to $54.30 per ounce. In the Indian domestic market, MCX gold futures traded around ₹1,42,440 per 10 grams, while silver futures reached nearly ₹1,96,350 per kg.
The preceding decline was triggered by a combination of rising Brent crude oil prices, stronger-than-expected US inflation data, and elevated Treasury yields, which increased the appeal of interest-bearing assets over non-yielding metals.
Investors are now monitoring the Federal Reserve System meeting scheduled for October 27–28 and the release of US PCE inflation data on October 29. Market participants are seeking signals from these events to determine if the central bank will implement interest rate cuts in December.
