The Tourism Administration of Taiwan and the Mainland Affairs Council have issued warnings and new mandates for citizens traveling to China. These measures follow an announcement from Beijing that new border regulations will be enforced starting September 15.
The Mainland Affairs Council warned that these regulatory changes could increase personal safety risks for Taiwanese visitors, with a particular emphasis on the vulnerability of certain individuals. To mitigate these risks, the council urged travelers to use the official government registration system for trips to China, Hong Kong, and Macao to ensure the government can provide emergency assistance.
Effective September 2, the Tourism Administration implemented a mandatory checklist for travel agencies managing study tours, exchange programs, and self-organized group trips. Agencies are now required to brief travelers on potential risks and assist them with government registration. Additionally, travel agencies must provide statistical data regarding their China-related travel services to Taiwanese authorities.
