Canon Announces EOS R8 Mark II Mirrorless Camera

Canon announced the EOS R8 Mark II, a second-generation full-frame mirrorless camera tailored for entry-level and amateur photographers. The new model introduces five-axis in-body image stabilization providing up to 7.5 stops of correction, a significant addition as the original EOS R8 lacked this feature.

The camera features a retro-inspired, angular redesign based on the EOS 650 and T80 SLR models and includes a rear multi-controller joystick for autofocus navigation. While the device retains the 24.2-megapixel sensor and 40fps electronic shutter of its predecessor, it adds pre-continuous shooting and enhanced subject tracking for vehicles, animals, and people.

Video specifications include 4K recording at 60fps and Full HD at 180fps. The body is priced at $1,899, while a kit including an RF24-50mm lens will cost $2,099. The camera is expected to be available in the United States around October 20, 2026.

Alongside the hardware, the company will release a free Windows application called Dual Pixel 3D Converter in October. This software allows users to generate 3D imagery from standard 2D photographs.
