Russia Ships Missiles and Drone Parts to Iran
Russia is delivering missiles and drone components to Iran via the Caspian Sea to replenish stockpiles depleted by U.S. and Israeli airstrikes.
The Federal Government of Russia is shipping missiles, explosives, and drone parts to Iran to replenish military stockpiles depleted by airstrikes from the United States and Israel. Western officials and documents indicate that more than two dozen Russian ships, including vessels from the sanctioned maritime company MG-Flot, transported the military cargo across the Caspian Sea to the Iranian port of Amirabad.
Former CIA analyst Jim Lamson stated that this procurement suggests the U.S. and Israeli strikes successfully degraded Iran's domestic production capabilities. The exchange signals a deepening military alliance between Moscow and Tehran, despite the Kremlin dismissing the allegations as "fake news."
President Donald Trump has downplayed the impact of the military aid. He cited assurances from Russian President Vladimir Putin that Russia is not selling arms to Iran.
