Thai Prime Minister Anutin Faces Slumping Support and Legal Crisis

Public support for Anutin Charnvirakul fell to 13.8% in September, down from 21.7% in June, according to a nationwide survey by the National Institute of Development Administration. The Bhumjaithai Party also saw its rating decline to 12.1%, leaving it in third place behind the People's Party and Pheu Thai.

The decline in popularity coincides with severe flooding in Bangkok, where all 50 districts were declared disaster zones, and rising global energy costs. Opposition leader Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut remains the most popular individual choice for prime minister, holding 24.7% support.

The government faces a critical legal challenge on Monday. The Constitutional Court of Thailand will rule on the validity of the February election following allegations that ballot paper codes compromised voting secrecy. If the court invalidates the results, Thailand may be required to hold a new election.
