Nigeria Police Probe Three Politicians for Inciting Election Remarks

The Nigeria Police Force has launched investigations into three political figures accused of making inciting remarks regarding the electoral process. The probes target Borno State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development Sainna Buba, Kuje Area Council Chairman Danjuma Shekwolo, and Senator Francis Fadahunsi of Osun East.

Sainna Buba allegedly threatened to flog and cut off the hands of residents who do not support the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general election. Danjuma Shekwolo reportedly warned residents of the Kuje Area Council to either vote for the APC in 2027 or leave the council. Senator Francis Fadahunsi is under investigation following a viral video in which he allegedly threatened members of the Accord Party before the Osun governorship election.

Force spokesperson Chief Superintendent of Police Anietie Iniedu confirmed that Senator Fadahunsi has already been questioned. Iniedu stated that inciting the public regarding elections is a criminal offense and urged political stakeholders to desist from such comments. The police are currently seeking evidence from witnesses to assist in potential prosecutions.
