Houthi Strikes Hit Saudi Aramco Refinery in Jizan

Houthi militants attacked a Saudi Aramco refinery in Jizan, causing crude oil prices to spike amid escalating regional tensions between Iran and the United States.

The Houthi movement launched a wave of strikes on Monday, September 7, 2026, targeting Saudi Aramco oil facilities in Jizan, Saudi Arabia. The attack hit a refinery with a processing capacity of approximately 400,000 barrels per day. The scale of the strike was described as similar to an attack from the previous month that temporarily disrupted production.

Saudi Aramco has not yet issued an official comment on the current damage. The Jizan facility is a critical hub for the kingdom as it shifts more oil west to avoid the Strait of Hormuz, and it has been a repeated target for the Iran-aligned Houthis due to its proximity to the Yemeni border.

The strikes occurred during a period of heightened regional volatility. The United States Department of Defense recently struck three Iranian oil tankers in response to Iranian ballistic missile attacks on U.S. warships. Following the news of the Jizan refinery attack, Brent crude oil prices spiked, trading above $97 per barrel.
