China Resumes Refined Fuel Exports to Ease Global Markets

The Government of China will resume refined fuel exports in October after a brief pause for the Golden Week holiday. Beijing approved approximately 3.7 million metric tons of combined diesel, gasoline, and jet fuel for export, a move expected to alleviate pressure on tight global fuel markets.
China previously restricted exports starting in March to protect domestic supplies. Those restrictions were driven by crude oil flow and refinery disruptions caused by the war in Iran. While the government relaxed these controls between July and September, it has recently shifted from a standard quota system to a more stringent month-by-month vetting process for all shipments.
