Panattoni Proposes 324-Megawatt Data Center in Canton Ohio
Panattoni proposed a hyperscale data center on a former Ford plant site in Canton, Ohio, promising 670 construction jobs despite resident noise concerns.
Panattoni, a California-based data center developer, presented plans for a 324-megawatt hyperscale data center on a 100-acre industrial site in Canton, Ohio. The proposed facility will occupy a vacant lot previously used by a Ford Motor Company forging plant and will be operated by an unnamed major American technology company for cloud computing and machine learning.
During an open house at the Canton Civic Center, local residents raised concerns about potential noise pollution and the impact on residential property values. Panattoni responded that the facility's equipment is designed to run quietly and will comply with all city noise limits.
Construction is scheduled to begin next year and is expected to last 30 months, creating 670 construction jobs. Adam Kramer, head of Panattoni's data center division, described the project as the next phase of the city's industrial history, noting that data centers support nearly every commercial and industrial job today.
