Regeneron and Sanofi Expand Antibody Deal for $8 Billion
Regeneron Pharmaceuticals and Sanofi expanded their antibody collaboration with a deal worth up to $8 billion to develop next-generation immunology medicines.
Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Sanofi expanded their long-standing antibody collaboration through a new agreement providing Regeneron with $1 billion upfront and potential milestone payments reaching $7 billion. The deal adds four long-acting antibodies to the alliance, including REGN20423, which is currently in Phase 1 trials for atopic dermatitis, and three additional candidates scheduled for clinical studies in 2027.
Under the terms of the agreement, the companies will split development costs and future profits equally on a global basis. Regeneron will lead research and development efforts, while Sanofi will manage global commercialization. The deal also includes an option for Regeneron to incorporate Sanofi's investigational therapy lunsekimig after its Phase 3 trials for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
This expansion builds on a partnership established in 2003 that previously produced the drug Dupixent. As part of the new arrangement, the two companies have settled all prior litigation related to their collaboration. Leonard S. Schleifer, President and CEO of Regeneron, stated that the agreement builds on their foundation to bring the next generation of immunology medicines to patients even faster.
