Amazon Invests $1.9 Billion to Increase Delivery Driver Pay

Amazon is investing $1.9 billion into its Delivery Service Partner program to raise driver pay and enhance vehicle safety technology.

Amazon.com is investing $1.9 billion into its Delivery Service Partner (DSP) program to assist partners with employee attraction and retention through increased driver pay. Vice President of Transportation Beryl Tomay stated that these investments have helped DSP owners increase driver pay by an average of 16% over the last three years, raising national average earnings to nearly $24 per hour.

The company is also expanding its safety and technology infrastructure. Amazon plans to install surround-view cameras in half of its Rivian electric delivery vehicles by the end of the year and will deploy 20,000 AI-powered Amazon Smart Delivery Glasses by 2027. These efforts follow a $543 million expenditure on safety initiatives, which the company credits for a 23% reduction in serious vehicle crashes last year.

Beyond operational upgrades, Amazon is committing $70 million over the next five years to support community initiatives led by its delivery partners.
