Turkey Adds Armenia Country Code to Customs Software
Turkey's Ministry of Trade integrated Armenia's official country code into its customs software to facilitate trade and normalize relations between the two nations.
The Ministry of Trade of Turkey integrated Armenia's official country code, 077, into the BİLGE customs software system to facilitate a normalization process between the two countries. This technical adjustment enables customs declarations for import, export, and transit transactions moving through third countries to explicitly list Armenia as the origin or final destination.
Bilateral trade turnover currently ranges between $335 million and $350 million, but both governments aim to increase this figure to $1 billion in the short term. This move follows other diplomatic efforts to improve relations, including a May memorandum regarding the joint restoration of the historic Ani Bridge.
