L3Harris Wins $121 Million U.S. Army Radio Contract
L3Harris Technologies received $121 million in production orders from the U.S. Army to provide Low-Cost Data Radio systems for vehicle communications.
L3Harris Technologies received multiple production orders totaling $121 million from the U.S. Army for Low-Cost Data Radio (LOCODA) systems. These systems provide vehicle communications that enable battlefield commanders to access Army command and control applications through multiple transport options from a single platform.
The LOCODA solution utilizes existing installation kits to accelerate fielding and minimize training requirements. Technical specifications include support for narrowband and wideband waveforms, anti-jam capabilities, Mobile Ad Hoc Network Technology, and Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio Systems.
L3Harris stated the program reduces costs and deployment time for the Army while providing enhanced capabilities over previous systems. Chris Aebli, President of Communications & Spectrum Dominance at L3Harris, noted that the solution allows commanders to access applications "quickly and with minimal training."
