Air navigation provider ENAV and its technology subsidiary Techno Sky conducted a national strike in Italy on September 30, 2026. The industrial action occurred between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. local time, resulting in flight disruptions and delays nationwide. Local strikes further impacted operations at airports in Bologna, Milan Linate, Naples, and Bari.
To limit the impact on travelers, Italian law enforced protected flight windows from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This strike follows a period of significant aviation instability in Europe, including a major technical failure at the United Kingdom's National Air Traffic Services earlier in the month and flight cancellations at Catania Airport on September 29 caused by volcanic activity from Mount Etna.
Additional labor unrest continues in the region. The National Union of Civil Aviation Flight Personnel announced that easyJet cabin crew in Portugal will strike in October and December over working conditions. These planned actions are expected to ground approximately 500 flights across Lisbon, Porto, and Faro.
