Tom Homan Defends ICE Against Calls for Abolition

Border czar Tom Homan rejected claims that political opponents would abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during an appearance on Fox News' "The Will Cain Show." Homan responded to assertions by Representative Delia Ramirez, who described ICE as a significant threat that should be replaced by a civil immigration system.

Homan argued that the agency is essential for public safety, noting that over 60% of ICE arrests involve criminals. He highlighted the agency's role in investigating human trafficking, narcotics, and the smuggling of technology to foreign enemies.

Addressing the legal framework of the agency, Homan asserted that those wishing to abolish ICE should instead focus on changing the laws passed by Congress, specifically the Immigration Nationality Act. He claimed that while opponents would not actually abolish the agency, they would instead attempt to "starve them for money" to hinder operations.
