Philippine Airlines Commits to 20 Boeing 787 Dreamliners

Philippine Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding with Boeing on July 20, 2026, to acquire up to 20 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner jets. The agreement, announced at the Farnborough International Airshow in the United Kingdom, includes a commitment for 15 aircraft and an option for five additional units.

This deal marks the airline's first Boeing aircraft order since 2007 and recognizes an 80-year partnership between the two companies. The wide-body jets are intended to modernize the carrier's fleet and increase operational flexibility for medium- and long-haul routes, supplementing its current fleet of 10 Boeing 777 jets. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2031 and continue through 2034.

Lucio C. Tan III, President and COO of PAL Holdings, Inc., stated the investment demonstrates confidence in the future of the airline and the growth of air travel. Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, noted that the selection of the 787 Dreamliner represents an important step forward in the long-term partnership.
