Chrysler recalled 97,349 Jeep vehicles after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration identified a manufacturing defect where roof rack crossbars could detach. The agency determined that pivot bolts may not have been tightened correctly during the assembly process.
The recall affects several high-end models, including the 2022-2025 Jeep Wagoneer, 2022-2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, 2023-2025 Jeep Wagoneer L, and 2023-2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L. Authorized dealers will replace the faulty pivot bolts at no cost to the vehicle owners.
Owners will receive an initial notification letter starting after October 8, with a second letter to follow once the repair is available. Chrysler has assigned internal recall number 81D to the action, and owners can verify their vehicle identification numbers through the NHTSA website or by contacting the manufacturer directly.
