India Partners With 24 Countries to Secure Critical Minerals
The Government of India has established partnerships with 24 nations to secure critical mineral supplies and strengthen global semiconductor supply chains.
The Government of India has expanded its global strategic outreach to secure critical mineral supplies and bolster semiconductor supply chains, establishing partnerships with 24 countries and initiating negotiations with 11 others over the last two years. The strategy focuses on reducing dependence on concentrated supply sources for materials essential to advanced manufacturing, defense, electric vehicles, and clean energy, specifically targeting lithium, cobalt, copper, and rare earth elements.
Through the Ministry of Mines, India has built a network spanning North America, Europe, Africa, West Asia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, and Australia. The initiative extends beyond the procurement of raw materials to include mineral exploration, mining, processing, and the transfer of technology.
To further its ambitions in high-tech manufacturing, India is collaborating with the United States, Japan, Germany, and the Netherlands. These specific partnerships aim to strengthen domestic chip manufacturing and integrate the country more deeply into the global semiconductor supply chain.
