China Condemns U.S. Trade Bans and Visa Revocations

The Embassy of the People's Republic of China issued separate condemnations on Wednesday regarding U.S. actions to restrict Chinese corporate activity in the United States and Argentina. In the U.S., the embassy criticized planned bans on new Chinese data center component models and the imposition of tariffs and price floors on polysilicon products. Chinese officials asserted that the U.S. is overstretching the concept of national security to suppress Chinese firms and impede trade exchanges.

Simultaneously, the Chinese embassy in Argentina accused the United States Embassy in Argentina of obstructing cooperation between Huawei and a local Argentine firm. The embassy claimed the U.S. revoked visas for individuals to prevent this collaboration, characterizing the move as a promotion of the "China threat theory" and a violation of national sovereignty. This diplomatic friction occurs as the administration of Donald Trump expresses concern over Chinese influence in Latin America, while China and Argentina recently renewed a 130 billion yuan bilateral currency swap agreement.

The U.S. embassy in Argentina did not immediately comment on the visa allegations. China stated it will continue to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its companies against these protectionist measures.
