BJP Appoints Vinod Tawde as Uttar Pradesh State In-Charge
The Bharatiya Janata Party appointed Vinod Tawde as the state in-charge for Uttar Pradesh to lead preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections.
The Bharatiya Janata Party appointed Rajya Sabha MP and national general secretary Vinod Tawde as the new state in-charge for Uttar Pradesh. National president Nitin Nabin authorized the appointment as part of a broader leadership restructuring across Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Gujarat to prepare for the 2027 Assembly elections. Former Gujarat MLA Jagdish Ishwarbhai Patel was named co-in-charge of the state.
Tawde was selected based on a track record of electoral success, including his role as a poll observer in Bihar, where he helped the BJP-led alliance secure a two-thirds majority, and his involvement in the 2024 Haryana elections. He previously served as the election in-charge for Droupadi Murmu in the 2022 Presidential election and CP Radhakrishnan in the 2025 Vice-Presidential election.
The restructuring aims to strengthen social and caste equations by expanding the representation of minority leaders and non-Yadav Other Backward Classes within the national organizational structure. Tawde has already begun preliminary visits to Uttar Pradesh, meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and senior officials to evaluate organizational changes and potential cabinet expansions.
