Indivisible Organizes 2,500 Nationwide Rallies to Promote Early Voting
Indivisible and the Michigan Freedom Coalition are organizing thousands of nonpartisan rallies on October 17 to drive voter registration and early turnout for the November 3 elections.
The progressive grassroots nonprofit Indivisible is coordinating more than 2,500 nonpartisan events across the United States on Saturday, October 17, to promote voter registration and early voting ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. The mobilization, titled No Kings 4, shifts the movement's focus from traditional protests toward direct civic participation.
In Michigan, the Michigan Freedom Coalition is launching 78 rallies and marches in cities including Grand Rapids and Lansing. Organizers aim to transition energy previously used in protests against the Donald Trump administration into ballot casting. The effort emphasizes youth participation and voter eligibility, specifically targeting those with criminal records who are eligible to vote if not currently incarcerated.
Other major regional efforts include more than 120 events in Massachusetts and multiple rallies across the Upstate region of South Carolina. In Santa Barbara, California, the event features a march from Alameda Park to De la Guerra Plaza, ending at a ballot drop box near City Hall. To maintain a nonpartisan status, organizers have prohibited signs featuring specific candidates or political parties.
Movement leaders describe the initiative as a transition from protest to power. Organizers argue that early voting reduces delays in the certification of results and encourages high-propensity and young voters to secure their ballots before Election Day.
