Nearly 50 million Americans aged 18 to 29 are eligible to vote in the 2026 midterm elections, with data suggesting Gen Z may turn out in historically high numbers. A survey conducted by the Alliance for Youth Power PAC and YouGov across eight battleground states found that over 80% of voters in this age group plan to cast ballots.
In competitive Senate races in Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, and Ohio, 60% of young voters intend to support Democratic candidates. This demographic is among the most diverse in U.S. history, with nearly half being people of color and approximately 20% identifying as LGBTQ, factors that heavily influence their political ideologies.
Primary motivations for this group include a desire for community improvement and concerns regarding political corruption, economic issues, and the cost of living.
